Step-by-Step Setup Guide
Get Your API Key
Log in to your dashboard, navigate to Settings → API Keys, and click Generate New Key. Copy the key — you will need it in step 4.
Create a Zapier Account
Go to zapier.com/sign-up and create a free account. The free plan includes 100 tasks/month and 5 active Zaps — enough to get started with invoice automation.
Create a New Zap
Click Create Zap in the Zapier dashboard. Choose your trigger app (e.g., Stripe, HubSpot, Google Sheets, Shopify) and select the event that should create an invoice — such as "New Payment", "Deal Won", or "New Row".
Connect Online Invoice Maker
Search for Online Invoice Maker as the action app. Select Create Invoice as the action event. When prompted, paste your API key from step 1 to authenticate the connection.
Map Your Data Fields
Map fields from your trigger app to invoice fields: customer name, email, line item descriptions, quantities, unit prices, tax rates, due date, and currency. Zapier's visual mapper makes this simple — just click to select fields.
Test and Activate
Click Test to create a sample invoice and verify everything looks correct. Check it in your dashboard. Once confirmed, turn on your Zap. Invoices will now be created automatically whenever your trigger fires.
